Artist of the Week - Wordspit

I chuckle every time he says Cowamuthafuckinbunga.
The first time I heard Wordspit was on FKi's Fresh Gear Uh and I thought "hmm...he sounds interesting." Almost a year after that I saw him perform in Philly at Coo's lounge and I thought "hmm...he IS interesting." I have never seen anyone with as much energy on stage as Wordspit.
On Monday I saw him at Santos Party House and boy oh boy what a live show that was.
He was supposed to premier his video Poet's Haiku but due to some technical difficulties that didn't really happen so, here it goes!

Others who performed that night:
Rockstar Society: Pretty good. They had catchy songs and incorporated crowd participation.
Will: ehh (but it was only his 3rd performance). His 1st song was cool but I think that's because it was produced by Precize. I friggen love Precize
The Rocketeers: Honestly, I couldn't pay attention to their music because all I could think about was "hey, one of them kind of looks like Fresh Daily." They've been nominated for a woody so they must be decent.
Cocoa Sarai: Although she only said a total of 3 words (hello good morning), they were the most beautiful sounding 3 words I've ever heard. Geez that girl can SANG!
Kalae: I liked her entrance, she just walked from the back of the room on to the stage when her verse came up. She raps and can hold a note too. NICE

When the Rain falls...

Theophilus London ft Jesse Boykins III: Humdrum Town
1. I've loved this song since I heard it over a year ago
2. If this song were really karaokeable I would go in to the extreme

My New Toy

I recently purchased the new Flip video camera. I did all the research; read the reviews, read the specs, spoke to my videographer homie, had a long discussion with the sales person at Best Buy and decided to buy it. Instead of a super detailed description I'll just give the pros and cons and a nice little video I made the day I bout it.
Pros: Small and easy to hold. Great image and sound quality (way better than the sucky GE digital camera I had). Easy to use, not that many buttons. Cool USB flippy thing.
Cons: EXTREMELY short battery life. It's supposed to last hours on a full charge. HOURS MY ASS! Shit lasted for 15 mins of recording. No image stabilization (thank goodness for iMovie's stabilization). The USB flippy thing is kind of awkward to plug in. LIES: you cannot upload videos to Youtube & Facebook straight from the camera. It has to be plugged into your computer to do so -_-

Awesome!

Ok so it's nice to know XV's story and that he was a smart kid and blahzay blahzay but the narrator of this video is HILARIOUS! Idk why, he just is.

um...

Sometimes I really wanna write about people but then I realize that they may read it. Shmur ;)

Ok, that is all

...For our culture

It appears that Dame Dash is passing on his knowledge of the rap industry to Mickey Factz, Stalley and Wiz Khalifa during a round table discussion which eventually turns into a cypher.

New video from Jade for her song Blessed Memory. Geez do I miss Battery Park

Dollar Menu x Dollar Van Demo

Let me start off by saying: This is soooo New York and "I'm lovin it". A McDonald's commercial in a dollar van with Wordspit rapping and Joya Bravo singing. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?

Artist of the week - Mickey Factz

The 1st time I ever heard of Mickey Factz was on 6/7/2008 at the knitting factory. What a good night that was; I was hooked after the first song that he performed
Mickey Factz's performance energy is phenomenal. He interacts with the crowd, dances, I've even seen him stage dive.
His latest mixtape/album/EP thing is titled Dark Phoenix #Alpha. It only has 8 songs but all 8 of those songs are damn good. The end of each song has a clip of another song that's not on the mixtape/album/EP thing which leads me to think that there will be an #Omega sometime in the near future...I hope

I just wanna savor you

Jesse Boykins III has a new video for his song Itis. This video right here....hmm. How can I put this? I've always loved Jesse Boykins III but the first minute of this video makes me love him for a different reason. I've never seen him as sex symbol and it's kind of awkward to do so, but it's that weird awkward that feels good in the end. I don't know, I hope you get what I'm trying to say.
Anyways...I love the concept of this video

#In2010...

...People won't dress like this.
I was at a "black tie event" on New Years Eve when I saw some dressed like that. My 1st comment on shorty's outfit is: WHY THE HELL DOESN'T SHE MATCH/COORDINATE? My second comment is: It's NYE at a "black tie event" didn't she have anything better to wear? Ugh tacky people annoy me.
Another tacky thing I saw that night was a girl with her own name tatted on her arm. Where they do that at???

Oh and I use the term "black tie event" very loosely. I was told that attire was classy but every guy there was in jeans. Really fellas? Classy does not equal a sweater and jeans or jeans and a tie...step your game up and get on your GQ status.

Perhaps 2010 will be the year that the people around me start dressing a little more sophisticated

Random things I notice...

The picture above is an ad from NYCs Coalition For the Homeless. This ad and many ads similar to it can be seen on the walls of NYC subway stations. I've only been in NY for a few weeks but I've already noticed that all the children in these ads are Black. Are there no White homeless kids in New York City? *side eye*
