I always knew Santa was Black!!!

1. Idk what these commercials have to do with Nike
2. The Kris Kringle video (aka KRS-One and a puppet) looks like a 90's Puff Daddy video
3. Only Lupe Fiasco can make a Reindeer seem hard

I'm fine like a martian...

For those who don't know, from 2007-2008 I was in love with The Pack (you know...them Bay Area boys who sing "got my vans on but they look like sneakers"). Whenever they were in NY you can bet your bottom dollar that I was there. My favorite member was Lil B, not only did he say some HILARIOUS things in his songs but he's also a very interesting person who says wise things every now and again if you talk to him one on one.
Well.....he recently put out his own video without his group mates. The song is interesting to say the least. But GEEZ do I miss The Pack. New album soon? Please

They don't love you til you die

As we all know, Brittany Murphy went into cardiac arrest and passed away at the age of 32 (isn't that when Jesus died?). Prior to her death, I don't think she had any fans; she was known by a lot of people but no one was like "OMJESUS! I have to go see the new B. Murph movie." Now that she passed away, everyone is abuzz about how much they loved her in Uptown Girls and Clueless. I'm just sayin...why all the sudden love?

It may be WAY too soon for this but what 32 year old dies of a heart attack? Am I the only person suspecting some type of drug involvement?

Random side note: this year seems to be the year of dying celebrities. The rapture maybe?

I should be studyin...

Geez I love this song!

This video is sick! Ever since Gumby I've loved stop
animation

Question of the Day...

Can females have jumpoffs?

"Why play hide and seek with me?"

I always wanted to make Jesse Boykins III my artist of the week but he's more like the artist of the year to me...

One year ago, Jesse Boykins III dropped The Beauty Created which was an absolutely delightful album that has my favorite song ever "Pantyhose" on it. Over the past few weeks he's leaked songs off of his recently released The Beauty Created REMIX album which features productions by Melo-X, Machine Drum and many more.
Let me say this: When I played this remix album for my roommate, she legit shed a tear. It's that amazing.

If you don't download The Beauty Created Remixed Album then you're slacking at life, no lie.

Artist of the Week - Maluca

Idk how I found out about this woman's music but I'm glad I did.
I don't know too much about Maluca but I do know that she was born and raised in NYC (oww NY) and her music has a very strong Latin influence. There have been many remixes of her song El Tigeraso but my favorite one is the Sticky K remix...it kinda sounds like an 80's video game but its uber bass heavy and everyone knows I love bass heavy songs.
Anyways, Maluca recently performed at the Museum of Natural History and based on the clips, it seemed pretty damn awesome!

Movie Review - Precious

The book was better. point ____. I'm not gonna give a plot synopsis because I want you to read the book Push by Sapphire.
To all the directors out there: Having a slew of famous actors/musicians in your movie does not make it a good movie. Monique played Precious' mother and although she was playing a serious role, no one in the theater could take her seriously just because she's Monique.
Mariah Carey: Can someone PLEASE tell me why she was chosen for the role as a welfare agent? I know there are light skinned/White looking good actresses out there.
At times it seems like it's a documentary. The camera angles and constant zooming in and out give it a weird unprofessional documentary feel.
Maybe I'm bias because I've read the book 3x (the 1st time at age 13) but buns, I still think the movie doesn't do Push justice. Precious doesn't go into details like Push does (probably due to time constraints) and it doesn't depict the severe amount of abuse that Precious and here peers endured.
It's not 100% terrible but I believe the story could've been better executed

Kaptain's Khristmas list

The holiday season is here! Times like this I wish Santa Clause existed just so I could get these gifts. Buns because if he was real I would probably be on the naughty list -__-

Nooka: Garbege Zub (Sold out but I want it anyway)

Obey: Eye of the tiger ring ($26)

Doc Marten: 1460 8 eye black patent lamper ($115)

Freakum Dress in Neon Blue Floral by Brian Lichtenberg ($262)

A Rotweiler (Priceless)

Movie Review - American Drug War

American Drug War is a documentary that goes deeper into the lives of drug dealers and corrupted government officials. Director Kevin Booth interviews Ricky Ross (the original one, not the fat hairy rapper), sherifs, former DEA officials and incorporates anecdotes from his own life to tell a tale of drug use in this country. It depicts drug prisons as slave camps and king pin dealers as pawns in a large game of drug chess.
Booth paints the clear picture that what ever side of the drug war people are on on, a majority of people are in it for money.
I couldn't find my favorite clip (naked man in a restaurant high off sherm) but below is a clip of a sherif in Arizona who is adamant on ending drug usage in his state.

Commercial Wars

I was talking to my homie recently and he pointed out that commercials are going hard these days. Verizion vs AT&T, Mac vs PC. Remember the days when commercials were friendly and didn't dare call out another company by name?

Haha "There's a map for that" straight shot at the iPhone
Still waiting for a PC add to compete with the onslaught of Mac commercials
Family guy does a better job at poking fun at Mac than a PC commercial will ever do

Can't we all just get along? I foresee the commercials only getting worse in the future

GIGGITY (Sex Therapy)

The things I would do to walk around Robin Thicke's mansion in lingerie and heels. mhmmmm.
Question: Is that a nipple at the 2:28 mark?

Eye graffiti

This is a story about graffiti artist Tempt One in California who suffers from a debilitating disease called Lou Gehrig's. He is completely paralyzed but he still has complete control and use of his eyes. Eyewriter was created so Tempt One could continue to tag places from his hospital bed. This is truly amazing.

Artist of the Week - Ninjasonik

Ninjasonik is a trio consisting of DJ Teenwolf, Jah Jah, and Telli who hail from Brooklyn, New York. I've seen them perform in both NY and Philly and both of those performances were energetic and fun, their music is very danceable...I do a lil jig around my apartment every time one of their songs comes on.
Anyways, they recently did a remix of Matt & Kim's "Daylight," you know, the song from that Bacardi mojito commercial, yea that one.

Coo's Lounge showcase

I recently attended a showcase at Coo's Lounge in north Philly. It was pretty damn interesting. Some of the performers included:
Aime - sheesh those tracks sound hard on good speakers. He really vibed out, dancing around and rapping intimately with the mic
Wordspit - this man was rapping, jumping/dancing and not getting tangled in the mic cord all at the same time. Uber energetic.
Shinobi Ninja - Let me start off by saying that the girl in the group (I wish I knew her name) is super bad. mmmmhm. Dj+band+tall dude+hot girl = Shinobi Ninja. I wish I could describe their music better. All I can say is that there was moshing and everyone in the room was dancing n nodding their head super hard. Good stuff mayn good stuff

Affion does it again

This time it isn't a music video...it's a spoof of the hip hop honors awards. His impersonation of Russell Simmons is dead on

Artist of the Week - Aime

I've been wanting to write about this man for a minute now.

It's been hyped up for a long time now but Aime's Class Act is finally here! What's that thing they say about time and perfection??...Well whatever it is, it explains why Class Act is such an amazing mixtape. Homie put a lot of work into it and it shows.
What I like about Aime is that his songs aren't misogynistic or violent and he talks about real life experiences. As for the beats....they go HARD (whoop whoop D. Smith & whoever else made em)! Tons of sampled songs, I feel like I'm up at 2am watching PBS.
Anywho...Class Act is great. Support my fellow TU student/big play brother and download it here

MEAT IN MY FACE!

Homecoming weekend=Lupe Fiasco & Asher Roth concert. Asher was ok, he performed Candy Rain (synchronized choreography and all). Lupe Fiasco's meat was in my face all night...who would've guessed.
Lupe put on an amazing performance, his segues were amazing and he gave the crowd a chance to participate. He even sang Paris Tokyo (which just happens to be one of my fav. songs) to me, touched my face and everything....heavenly.

The Leak

I'm super late I know, I deadass think I have H1Nfun.
Badio has recently put out a new mixtape called "The Leak." The song Doc Brown featuring Raye Rich from FKi has been on repeat, not because both of them are my homies but because I like it. The mixtape is dopetastic, and not just because Badio wears glasses, lord knows I love a man in glasses ;) Anyways.....download The Leak here

This is why'll never get a flu shot

I wonder if she can jerk?

Oprah rubs Solange

For those who don't know, I absolutely adore Solange. She's a sweetheart with an "I don't give a fuck about what you think" kinda attitude. Today she was on Oprah for the 1st time. YAY Solo!

I wonder if Oprah is the only woman that Solange will let rub her head?

Rocksmith Toyko Holiday 09 Featuring Jesse Boykins III

Rocksmith is one of my favorite clothing lines (unfortunately I don't have any articles of clothing from them. I gotta get my $ right) and they recently teamed up with one of my favorite singers Jesse Boykins III for their winter collection.
Sometimes I wish I was a guy so I can wear clothes like that...buns

Today, one of my new favorite rappers XV dropped a video for his song Fall Out the Sky off his latest mixtape Everybody's Nobody. The video is simple but entertaining nonetheless. XV- "Fall Out The Sky" (Music Video)

Artist of the Week - Badio

Badio...honestly, idk what to say about this guy. He says some funny/interesting things in his verses "if you go that pancake then let me put some syrup on it" (Monkey Out). The 1st time I ever heard of him was on FKi's song "Fresh Gear Uh" and I really liked his flow so I decided to find more of his music.
I'm captivated by his songs but I can't figure out why...I guess he's just that good. As far as I know he has 2 mixtapes Swag Central and The Progress. Check him out

...

Fire Starter: A girl who wants to sex someone but doesn't go through with it. The southern word for being a tease.

I met a performer at a concert and I was on my ill groupie status. We ended up chillin 2x. The first time was super cute, holding hands and all that jazz. The second time we kicked it at his mommas crib. I'm a friendly person, so I guess that gave him the wrong ideas. Homie deadass told me to get in the shower with him.
Do I have the words "I'm down to fuck even though we just met" on my head? SHAME

Can we be intimate?

STORY TIME!!!
I met an established musician last year (I won't say his name or whose band he plays in) and we've been texting all year. Some how he got the idea that I wanted to sex him so he attempted to get really friendly with me by buying me roti and inviting me to watch tv at his place. Mind you, this man is 30 and he lives with his dad...WTF.
I was like "um, I don't like being touched, I can't physically or mentally get intimate. BYE" This man tried to seduce me with some west indian food. SMH!

Summer recap

So now that my summer has officially ended I thought I'd briefly summarize my shenangans.

1. Jesse Boykins III at Solomon's Porch in Brooklyn. Geez that man can sing
2. Concert @ Blender Theater. Rhapsody dance company killed it. Fresh Daily was fiyah and I was introduced to the music of Homeboy Sandman
3. Sneaker Pimps. Ninjasonik had mad energy, they were my favorite. Brooklyn from the movie ATL performed the hook of that Fabolous song. Big Boi performed a few songs, it would've been better if Andre 3000 was there too. Everyone was super hype to see Jadakiss, I'm not a big fan tho :/ I was hype to see Clipse but I was sad they didn't perform Grindin or All Eyes on Me
4. GFC Black Apple at SOBs. FKi was energetic and super nice, Nakim was fresh off the plane Jade=interesting (I swear she's on something), Stalley has a really thick beard and he brought the love of my life Jesse Boykins III on stage. Mickey Factz rapped with Cory Gunz and Melo-x on incredible. He then proceeded to do push ups on stage and did a nice lil MJ tribute
5. Diesel U Music Tour. Hands down the most fun experience of my summer. Theophilus London=FLIRT and an amazing performer (ft his crazy cousins n JB3). Telli Federline (from Ninjasonik)....no words, The Noisettes NICE, Passion Pit and Cobrastarship (I was too drunk to engage in their performance), Clipse brought out Kanye West The Roots and Likke Li were there too. I was VIP, very friendly and very inebriated....
6. Last but not least JB3 again. Yes I kno it was the 4th time of the summer but I
can't get enough of his soulful voice. This time it was at the GAP. Very intimate show.

I also met Solange at a rave in Chinatown. She's FIERCE and very sweet

Hipster Trends?

American Apparel: Overpriced, cheaply made hipster clothes. My favorite store.
Some of the stuff they have there is straight up trashy. I swear someone's gonna come up with come kind of lawsuit because of the level of trashyness on the AA website. Smh

Artist of the week - Homeboy Sandman

Like Fresh Daily, I first saw Homeboy Sandman at a concert at Blender theater. He has a interesting style, really playful sounding. His mixtape There Is No Spoon has a few hilarious parody songs. Song like Verbalsoulclapmania and We Can Fly has been on repeat on my ipod.

Homeboy believes that there is no spoon but I would have to disagree...

Happy Fathers Day

You dead beat ass muther fucker...my bitterness rears its ugly head again.

I was on the train when I saw an add giving tips on how fathers can become better dads, ie hugging and kissing their kids and shit like that. When I got home I turned on my TV to FOX and there was a whole 5mins worth of shit talking about how good of a father Obama is and how every child needs a father. Why is this nation just beginning to realize that a father is a necessary part of a child's life? I'll tell you why, because Obama is a black man who is there for his kids, not by paying child support but by actually being apart of their lives.
I've been saying that every child needs a father for 19 years but nooooo, I was just another bastard child ungrateful for all the things the women in my life did for me. UGH!

To all the single mamas and grandmas out there, happy fathers day. You may not have a penis, but you have more balls than any dead beat dad could ever have.

Homeboy flow

It isn't what it aint and it is what it is
Ima grown ass woman I can handle my biz
Yea I may be grown but I don't have any kids
And the shit that say isn't fake like the wiz
If you're a tin man don't you ease on down my road
I'm lookin for a prince I don't wanna kiss a toad
I need a real man not some junky old cans
If you think that you are worthy put your number in my hand
I don't give a motherfuck what you think about me
I have a line of shirts and it's called koo breeze
Math is kind of hard but English comes with ease
Some broads are hoes but Khamari's just a tease
I put it down
If you look at kaptain and you wanna be like her
Rule number one is I'm not a fan of fur
The only fur I wear is glued to my sneakers
I run this shit I don't sit on the bleachers
I wake up every morning take a leak brush my teeth
Go into my kitchen try find something to eat
If the fridge is empty I'll just sit there feelin hungry
All day long there'll be a grumble in my tummy

Artist of the week - Fresh Daily

Fresh Daily is a koo cat outta brooklyn. I've recently saw him perform and I must admit that he is very talented. I'm diggin his mixtape Tomorrow is Today.

@KaptainKham this might blow your mind. But....THERE IS NO YESTERDAY! O_O

Just Call Me A Mac

I think I met the man of my dreams. Buns for me that I didn't get his number. My mama was standing next to me the WHOLE TIME I was talking to him. Big sad face.
Is it wrong to try to bag in the presence of family members?

Lets play telephone

People talk about other people, yea whatever. But when I do it, it's malicious...LIES. All gossip is malicious to the person who is being gossiped about.
Sometimes in life you gotta accept the lies (or truths) that are being told and just move on.

We all (including myself) just need to shut the hell up some times.

Nerd boys

Last night as I was laying in bed assessing my life I asked myself: why do boys only wanna beat? I personally value friendships and it seems like guys wanna be friends but as soon as I deny their pooning attempts our friendship is over. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's the crowd I hang with, maybe it's the generation of lame guys; whatever it is, it needs to stop.

Guys: stop just tryna beat. Strike up a conversation, build a friendship blah blah bulshit
Girls: stop being slores. You're making the rest of us look bad

Give me a nerd boy that gets good grades, doesn't party and/or drink that often and is respectable. Why are they so hard to find? I think I need to go to church.

Artist of the Week - Chester French

I first heard Chester French on some GFC/Garbege mixtape last summer. I liked their song but I was more interested in other artist on the mixtape.
A few months later I saw their video for "She Loves Everybody" on MtvU and I thought "hey, I remember them, I'm diggin their music."

Apparently they're super smart and they graduated from Harvard.
Apparently they're really popular amongst the music community because they have artist such as Diddy, Pharrell, Common, Talib Kweli and many more on their mixtape.

Chester French are (ci)roc stars... find out for your self

You down with OPH?

OPH = Other People's Hair
There's no point in gettin OPH if it looks nastier than you're real hair. I've seen so many girls with OPH that looks DISGUSTING. Ladies, especially ladies with curly weaves, you gotta maintain that shit. A few days ago I saw a girl with a weave that was startin dread. How can fake hair dread?? It was terrible.
A comb and shampoo is your friend. Use it.

My main man Geoffrey

Today my college had some street fair type shit and I realized that I'm a big kid. I'm bout to finish my 1st yr in college and today I got my whole face painted as Minnie Mouse, I flipped on a trampoline and I ate other people's cotton candy (I was too cheap to buy my own).
My friends called me a big kid and I finally realized that I am. The question is...when do I have to grow up? Is there a certain age when one has to stop enjoying childish festivities? Am I officially too old to wanna go play in the park on a warm day? Too old to blow bubbles in the wind? Too old to enjoy an icee from the central/south American on the corner?
I take offense when people call me a woman...shit, I'm still a girl in my head. I guess its cause my family still treats me like a kid that I still act like one.
Real talk though, I need to grow up. I'm not exactly sure how I do it but I think its about damn time that I figure it out.

I don't wanna grow up.

Artist of The Week...Drake

I recently saw Drake in Concert at SUNY Purchase. His set was fairly short and he came off as a little bit cocky. None the less, he makes good music and he has a rapidly growing fan base.
Drake is a rapper/singer/actor from Toronto, Canada and most people know him from his role on Degrassi as Jimmy. He's recently done a lot of work with artist such as Lil Wayne and Trey Songz.
Drake's 3 mixtapes are titled "Room for Improvement" "Comeback Season" (which is my favorite) and "So Far Gone." Most people only know about "So far Gone" because it is the newest and it has the most featured artist out of all his mixtapes. I suggest that people listen to the rest of his music.

Sweet dream, or a beautiful Nightmare?

Scene: Rach and Fannypak are at a party when Fannypak gets and text message from AG telling them to come over.

Fannypak: Wanna go see AG after the party?
Rach: Sure, as long as he doesn't play with my double whoppers again.

Twitch enters party

Twitch: This shit is terrible, I'm goin to AG's place and he said he doesn't want you guys there

AG (on the phone with Fannypak): I have a really bad headache. Idk what happened, it just came out of no where. You guys can't come over because I'm goin to sleep. Bye
Rach: I bet he's gonna call Twitch and tell her to come over...OMG i really have to pee. I don't think I can make it back to your room.

Since AG's house is closer to Rach and Fannypak than Fannypak's room, she decides to call AG and ask if Rach can use his bathroom. He says ok as long as they leave as soon as Rach is done. They agree. In the bathroom Fannypak decides to call Nightmare.

Fannypak: I'm in your bathroom
Nightmare: Do you kno where my room is?

They spend the night with Nightmare and he decides to make Fannypak his teddy bear and doesn't let go of her no matter how much she tossed and turned. The next day Rach and Fannypak find out that Twitch was able to cure AG's terrible headache

What kind of fuckery is this?

Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of people who live in the projects who have the nicest material items. The newest pair of Js, $200+ North Faces, Antik jeans, nice rims, wii's and ps3's and what not. I always thought that these people were rich because of their material items but as I grew up I began to wonder, if they're rich, why are they living in the projects? I was the girl who lived in an 8 bedroom house that my mama owns a few blocks away from the projects and I could never afford Js or expensive jeans....I rocked The Children's Place until I was 14.
Then one day it hit me...the reason why I never had any of those things was because my mama was busy payin off the mortgage, utilities and her car note. There wasn't much money left over for over priced superficial items. Project folk don't have to worry about those expenses so they spend on materialistic items.
Don't get me wrong, not all ppl living in the projects have this "project mentality" but a vast majority does.
I feel like these people who spend all their money on useless stuff should save their money and maybe, just maybe buy a house. If that idea is too far fetched, then at least get an apartment out of the projects. I know people who have lived in the projects all their life and now they have grandkids who live in the same project apartment as them. Instead of allowing their family to have a better quality life than they did, they buy their children game consoles and their granddaughters ipods and uggs. When they die what will their offspring be left with? An xbox 360 that is outdated and scuffed up leaning uggs that don't fit.
We will never receive our 40 acres and a mule, if we want land and power in this society we have to work for it and not spend money on foolishness.
