Trey Songz Double Feature

The 1st video in this Trey Songz double feature is Sex Room. One question: why is there a beard drawn on to shorty's face? Is that how Luda gets down? Hmmmm *side eye*

The 2nd video is Yo Side of the Bed. I guess Trey wants to be an actor now. There's not that much acting in it so I can't judge his skills but I know he can sang and he's nice to look at which is all that matters to me!

Yo Side of the Bed preview

1. The disclaimer to this video made me chuckle.
2. I want Trey Songz to stroke my face.
3. Kerry Hilson as a soldier? Highly unlikely and very unbelievable.
4. Before I saw this preview, I wasn't too ecstatic about the video because I'm not the biggest fan of the song (my initial reaction to it was "man up and grab your balls. Get over it, she's gone") but now I'm kind of excited to see the finished product.
5. AY QUE LINDO

Sex Room-Behind the scenes

Ludacris recently headed out to Vegas with Trey Songz to shoot the video for their song Sex Room, off of Luda's Battle of the Sexes album. Apparently there will be two videos for this song, the edited version and the too hot for tv version.
Side note: I feel like every video Trey has been in in 2010 was too hot for tv. Hmmm....oh well, my fantasies shall continue

Woohoo

New Christina Aguilera ft Nick Minaj.
I'm not a big fan of either but I love to sing about my woohoo and this song gives me the opportunity to do so.

XV IN NYC!

Tonight, May 6th, 2010 XV, Clipse, Ninjasonik, Charles Hamilton and Chiddy Bang will be performing at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. I've seen Clipse and Ninjasonik perform before (3x to be exact), I don't really care for Charles Hamilton, and I've never heard Chiddy Bangs' music but XV...I freakin love his music!! I've been listening to him for a year and I have 182 songs of his. I can't explain how excited I am to see him perform.
If you like any of the artist above, I suggest you get your ticket ahora. It's $20 in advance (but with service fees and crap it really comes out to about $25) and it's $25 at the door.
Get your tickets here

I'm Beaming

Today nobody cares, but oh tomorrow, they will
I'm Beaming is the 1st video off of Lupe Fiasco's 3rd album titled LASERS.

Lupe Fiasco - I'm Beamin (Official Video) HQ from Quality Control Blog on Vimeo.

This video reminds me of the video for CRS's song Us Placers, which was directed by Vashtie. I have no clue who directed I'm Beaming but they kind of jacked Vashtie's steez

Why Don't You Love Me?

What, Beyonce made another video? I thought she was on break! I guess not.
"Why Don't You Love Me? " was written by Solange Knowles (B's younger sister for those who don't know) and it is the 8th video from the I Am...Sasha Fierce album. I really like this video, maybe it's because I feel like I can relate to the song, or maybe it's because mainstream artist don't make old gritty videos anymore. Whatever it is, it's caused me to watch the video 5x in a row.

"I got beauty, I got class, I got style, and I got ass"

Amorous

Amorous: showing, feeling, or relating to sexual desire

Amorous is the final video from Jesse Boykins III's album The Beauty Created. Amorous is also one of my favorite songs of his.

I Want You is the 3rd mixtape from Brooklyn artist Theophilus London. It features covers of Marvin Gaye and Tweet songs (weird combo but it works). I don't have much to say about it besides it's freakin a and if you don't download it, I'm licensed to call you a fool.

New Videos: Ciara x Ludacris & Chris Brown x Tyga

CIARA IS BACK! I've always loved her but she seemed to have fallen off recently :( but she's back with a vengeance and she has something to prove!
Although her butt is non-existent, she can still twerk and wine better than I ever could....and them legs...woooo chile!

Chris Brown on the other hand, is trying to make a comeback, and he's failing at doing so. Apparently he's working on a mixtape with Tyga (hmmm...?). Here's the video for one of the songs off of the upcoming mixtape. I could see myself going crazy to this beat if I were alone or drunk at a party BUT why is Chris Brown rapping? Oh goodness no!

Usher ft Nicki Minaj-Lil Freak

1. That long ass intro to the video is highly unnecessary.
2. I would be happier if Ciara were dancing instead of playing pool.
3. How much you wanna bet girls in the hood are going to start wearing Cruella Devil weaves?

Artist of the Week - Cocoa Sarai

"He wants to devour me. Commit suicide. Lies hang in the balance as he dangles between my thighs"

Brooklyn native Cocoa Sarai's LP "1/2 Past Seven" is finally here! Honestly, this is the most versatile piece of work I've heard from a female artist in a really long time. "1/2 Past Seven" has a techno-ish track called "Ring," a song called "She Took the Night" which has a 1 minute long spoken word intro, and a song titled "Side Effects" which makes me nod my head and say "damn, I can totally relate."
I don't usually go hard for female R&B singers but there's something really captivating about Cocoa Sarai. Maybe it's her soulful voice or maybe it's the emotion that she puts into every song. Whatever it is, she's got me hooked.

When It's Cold Outside

Guess who has a new EP? Aime does and it's called "When It's Cold Outside." He worked with new producers for this mixtape (such as Paul Beats, Dannie Phantom and DCypher) which has resulted in a more mature sound than his previous work. It's nice when people's music grows up with them. Nice work sir, nice work

Monday, March 1, 2010

Mmmh Trey...

Trey Songz is at it again with his new video for "Neighbors Know My Name." Similar to "Invented Sex," Trey is doing a whole lot of kissing, lip biting and neck grabbing but this time it's with Victoria Secret model Jessica White
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of children are conceived in 2010 due to Trey Songz and all these sensual videos of his

"Now I'm the king, run through Queens like the E-Train" XV-Championship.
Nice lil MTA reference. Whoop whoop Queens NY

No, Vizzy Zone and The Kid With the Green Backpack are not out yet but it's ok because XV put out a new mixtape titled 30 Minute Layover to hold over all his impatient fans (such as myself). Honestly, this man can't make a song or mixtape that I won't like so...go download it.

I can be a freak

British singer Estelle has a new song produced by David Guetta and it's called Freak ft. Kardinal Offishall. It has a totally different sound from her other songs but hey, I guess every girl has an inner freak in her and this is Estelle letting hers out!
Estelle + a baltimore club like beat + a Soul II Soul sample thing + Kardinal Offishal = me dancing around my apartment like a damn fool.

Behind the scenes of the video shoot.
When did her boobies get so large? Ok Estelle, I see you

You know what really grinds my gears?

How come every time I go to the doctor the first question asked is "Khamari are you pregnant?" WTF?!?! What ever happened to "what's wrong?" "how are you feeling?" "what hurts?" or even "hi! How's your day going?" Does the chance that I may or may not be preggers effect treatment? Is pregnancy the cause of my ailments?
What really gets me is when I say no, the doctor's response is "are you sure you're not pregnant?" No sir, I'm not sure, in fact, I'm gonna be on the next episode of I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant.
Is teen pregnancy that big of an issue these days that it's the 1st thing that comes to mind as soon as a patient sits on that paper covered bed thing? "Oh, you have a cough and a sore throat...you must be pregnant."
What makes the situation worse is every time the doctor asks if I'm knocked up, my mom gives me a death stare like she's gonna beat the life out of me if I don't answer "no" with the quickness.
Ugh...welcome to my world

Artist of the Week - Amanda Blank

I'm not quite sure how I first found out about Philly native Amanda Blank but I'm glad I did because she's pretty awesome. Finally, a hipster FEMALE rapper from Philly that I like!
Check out the video for her song "Might Like You Better"

Rihanna's a coconut again!

Rihanna went back to her Caribbean roots for her latest video Rude Boy. This is the most West Indian she's been since Pon de Replay.
I'm not a big fan of hers but this video is the bees knees. WORK BISH WORK!

Monday, February 8, 2010

Artist of the week - FKi

Atlanta natives FKi dropped their long awaited 2nd mixtape titled Blue Steel 2.0. They released the original Blue Steel about a year ago and although both mixtapes share some songs (Kirby, Satisfaction and Clap Ya Hands), the overall sound of Blue Steel 2.0 is completely different from its predecessor. Long story short...I approve! Nice work Raye Rich and 1st Down, nice work

I'm lookin for some brain to boost my IQ
On the low, I love Cassie. Nicki Minaj, she's interesting but I'm in not on her clit like many people are but I digress. They collaborated to create my new theme song called Fuck You Silly. This song has been on repeat all friggen day and it will stay that way for a while

Artist of the Week - Wordspit

I chuckle every time he says Cowamuthafuckinbunga.
The first time I heard Wordspit was on FKi's Fresh Gear Uh and I thought "hmm...he sounds interesting." Almost a year after that I saw him perform in Philly at Coo's lounge and I thought "hmm...he IS interesting." I have never seen anyone with as much energy on stage as Wordspit.
On Monday I saw him at Santos Party House and boy oh boy what a live show that was.
He was supposed to premier his video Poet's Haiku but due to some technical difficulties that didn't really happen so, here it goes!

Others who performed that night:
Rockstar Society: Pretty good. They had catchy songs and incorporated crowd participation.
Will: ehh (but it was only his 3rd performance). His 1st song was cool but I think that's because it was produced by Precize. I friggen love Precize
The Rocketeers: Honestly, I couldn't pay attention to their music because all I could think about was "hey, one of them kind of looks like Fresh Daily." They've been nominated for a woody so they must be decent.
Cocoa Sarai: Although she only said a total of 3 words (hello good morning), they were the most beautiful sounding 3 words I've ever heard. Geez that girl can SANG!
Kalae: I liked her entrance, she just walked from the back of the room on to the stage when her verse came up. She raps and can hold a note too. NICE

When the Rain falls...

Theophilus London ft Jesse Boykins III: Humdrum Town
1. I've loved this song since I heard it over a year ago
2. If this song were really karaokeable I would go in to the extreme

My New Toy

I recently purchased the new Flip video camera. I did all the research; read the reviews, read the specs, spoke to my videographer homie, had a long discussion with the sales person at Best Buy and decided to buy it. Instead of a super detailed description I'll just give the pros and cons and a nice little video I made the day I bout it.
Pros: Small and easy to hold. Great image and sound quality (way better than the sucky GE digital camera I had). Easy to use, not that many buttons. Cool USB flippy thing.
Cons: EXTREMELY short battery life. It's supposed to last hours on a full charge. HOURS MY ASS! Shit lasted for 15 mins of recording. No image stabilization (thank goodness for iMovie's stabilization). The USB flippy thing is kind of awkward to plug in. LIES: you cannot upload videos to Youtube & Facebook straight from the camera. It has to be plugged into your computer to do so -_-

Awesome!

Ok so it's nice to know XV's story and that he was a smart kid and blahzay blahzay but the narrator of this video is HILARIOUS! Idk why, he just is.

Sometimes I really wanna write about people but then I realize that they may read it. Shmur ;)

Ok, that is all

Dollar Menu x Dollar Van Demo

Let me start off by saying: This is soooo New York and "I'm lovin it". A McDonald's commercial in a dollar van with Wordspit rapping and Joya Bravo singing. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Artist of the week - Mickey Factz

The 1st time I ever heard of Mickey Factz was on 6/7/2008 at the knitting factory. What a good night that was; I was hooked after the first song that he performed
Mickey Factz's performance energy is phenomenal. He interacts with the crowd, dances, I've even seen him stage dive.
His latest mixtape/album/EP thing is titled Dark Phoenix #Alpha. It only has 8 songs but all 8 of those songs are damn good. The end of each song has a clip of another song that's not on the mixtape/album/EP thing which leads me to think that there will be an #Omega sometime in the near future...I hope

I just wanna savor you

Jesse Boykins III has a new video for his song Itis. This video right here....hmm. How can I put this? I've always loved Jesse Boykins III but the first minute of this video makes me love him for a different reason. I've never seen him as sex symbol and it's kind of awkward to do so, but it's that weird awkward that feels good in the end. I don't know, I hope you get what I'm trying to say.
Anyways...I love the concept of this video

#In2010...

...People won't dress like this.
I was at a "black tie event" on New Years Eve when I saw some dressed like that. My 1st comment on shorty's outfit is: WHY THE HELL DOESN'T SHE MATCH/COORDINATE? My second comment is: It's NYE at a "black tie event" didn't she have anything better to wear? Ugh tacky people annoy me.
Another tacky thing I saw that night was a girl with her own name tatted on her arm. Where they do that at???

Oh and I use the term "black tie event" very loosely. I was told that attire was classy but every guy there was in jeans. Really fellas? Classy does not equal a sweater and jeans or jeans and a tie...step your game up and get on your GQ status.

Perhaps 2010 will be the year that the people around me start dressing a little more sophisticated

Random things I notice...

The picture above is an ad from NYCs Coalition For the Homeless. This ad and many ads similar to it can be seen on the walls of NYC subway stations. I've only been in NY for a few weeks but I've already noticed that all the children in these ads are Black. Are there no White homeless kids in New York City? *side eye*
