XV IN NYC!

Tonight, May 6th, 2010 XV, Clipse, Ninjasonik, Charles Hamilton and Chiddy Bang will be performing at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. I've seen Clipse and Ninjasonik perform before (3x to be exact), I don't really care for Charles Hamilton, and I've never heard Chiddy Bangs' music but XV...I freakin love his music!! I've been listening to him for a year and I have 182 songs of his. I can't explain how excited I am to see him perform.
If you like any of the artist above, I suggest you get your ticket ahora. It's $20 in advance (but with service fees and crap it really comes out to about $25) and it's $25 at the door.

Artist of the Week - Wordspit

I chuckle every time he says Cowamuthafuckinbunga.
The first time I heard Wordspit was on FKi's Fresh Gear Uh and I thought "hmm...he sounds interesting." Almost a year after that I saw him perform in Philly at Coo's lounge and I thought "hmm...he IS interesting." I have never seen anyone with as much energy on stage as Wordspit.
On Monday I saw him at Santos Party House and boy oh boy what a live show that was.
He was supposed to premier his video Poet's Haiku but due to some technical difficulties that didn't really happen so, here it goes!

Others who performed that night:
Rockstar Society: Pretty good. They had catchy songs and incorporated crowd participation.
Will: ehh (but it was only his 3rd performance). His 1st song was cool but I think that's because it was produced by Precize. I friggen love Precize
The Rocketeers: Honestly, I couldn't pay attention to their music because all I could think about was "hey, one of them kind of looks like Fresh Daily." They've been nominated for a woody so they must be decent.
Cocoa Sarai: Although she only said a total of 3 words (hello good morning), they were the most beautiful sounding 3 words I've ever heard. Geez that girl can SANG!
Kalae: I liked her entrance, she just walked from the back of the room on to the stage when her verse came up. She raps and can hold a note too. NICE

Coo's Lounge showcase

I recently attended a showcase at Coo's Lounge in north Philly. It was pretty damn interesting. Some of the performers included:
Aime - sheesh those tracks sound hard on good speakers. He really vibed out, dancing around and rapping intimately with the mic
Wordspit - this man was rapping, jumping/dancing and not getting tangled in the mic cord all at the same time. Uber energetic.
Shinobi Ninja - Let me start off by saying that the girl in the group (I wish I knew her name) is super bad. mmmmhm. Dj+band+tall dude+hot girl = Shinobi Ninja. I wish I could describe their music better. All I can say is that there was moshing and everyone in the room was dancing n nodding their head super hard. Good stuff mayn good stuff

MEAT IN MY FACE!

Homecoming weekend=Lupe Fiasco & Asher Roth concert. Asher was ok, he performed Candy Rain (synchronized choreography and all). Lupe Fiasco's meat was in my face all night...who would've guessed.
Lupe put on an amazing performance, his segues were amazing and he gave the crowd a chance to participate. He even sang Paris Tokyo (which just happens to be one of my fav. songs) to me, touched my face and everything....heavenly.

Summer recap

So now that my summer has officially ended I thought I'd briefly summarize my shenangans.

1. Jesse Boykins III at Solomon's Porch in Brooklyn. Geez that man can sing
2. Concert @ Blender Theater. Rhapsody dance company killed it. Fresh Daily was fiyah and I was introduced to the music of Homeboy Sandman
3. Sneaker Pimps. Ninjasonik had mad energy, they were my favorite. Brooklyn from the movie ATL performed the hook of that Fabolous song. Big Boi performed a few songs, it would've been better if Andre 3000 was there too. Everyone was super hype to see Jadakiss, I'm not a big fan tho :/ I was hype to see Clipse but I was sad they didn't perform Grindin or All Eyes on Me
4. GFC Black Apple at SOBs. FKi was energetic and super nice, Nakim was fresh off the plane Jade=interesting (I swear she's on something), Stalley has a really thick beard and he brought the love of my life Jesse Boykins III on stage. Mickey Factz rapped with Cory Gunz and Melo-x on incredible. He then proceeded to do push ups on stage and did a nice lil MJ tribute
5. Diesel U Music Tour. Hands down the most fun experience of my summer. Theophilus London=FLIRT and an amazing performer (ft his crazy cousins n JB3). Telli Federline (from Ninjasonik)....no words, The Noisettes NICE, Passion Pit and Cobrastarship (I was too drunk to engage in their performance), Clipse brought out Kanye West The Roots and Likke Li were there too. I was VIP, very friendly and very inebriated....
6. Last but not least JB3 again. Yes I kno it was the 4th time of the summer but I
can't get enough of his soulful voice. This time it was at the GAP. Very intimate show.

I also met Solange at a rave in Chinatown. She's FIERCE and very sweet

Artist of The Week...Drake

I recently saw Drake in Concert at SUNY Purchase. His set was fairly short and he came off as a little bit cocky. None the less, he makes good music and he has a rapidly growing fan base.
Drake is a rapper/singer/actor from Toronto, Canada and most people know him from his role on Degrassi as Jimmy. He's recently done a lot of work with artist such as Lil Wayne and Trey Songz.
Drake's 3 mixtapes are titled "Room for Improvement" "Comeback Season" (which is my favorite) and "So Far Gone." Most people only know about "So far Gone" because it is the newest and it has the most featured artist out of all his mixtapes. I suggest that people listen to the rest of his music.
